Zusammenfassung

Um Art und Häufigkeit von Stressbewältigungsstrategien in unterschiedlichen Kulturkreisen erfassen und vergleichen zu können, bedarf es äquivalenter Selbstberichtsinstrumente. In der Praxis werden jedoch häufig Fragebögen verwendet, denen der Nachweis transkultureller Validität fehlt. Das vorliegende Kapitel erläutert zunächst die Varianten und methodischen Herangehensweisen zur Überprüfung der Messäquivalenz, anhand derer der Nachweis kulturübergreifender Validität erbracht werden kann. Im Anschluss werden drei in der Forschungspraxis häufig genutzte Konzeptualisierungen von Stressbewältigung eingeführt, zugehörige Selbstberichtsverfahren für den Einsatz bei Erwachsenen vorgestellt und Befunde zu deren Äquivalenz für ausgewählte kulturelle Gruppen und Kulturkreise zusammengefasst. Zu jedem der drei Ansätze wird der Forschungsstand abschließend kritisch reflektiert.
