Zusammenfassung

Die Frage, wie das Böse und das Leiden auf Erden mit einem theologischen Weltbild vereinbart werden können, haben muslimische Theologinnen und Theologen unterschiedlich beantwortet. In diesem Beitrag werden verschiedene Diskurse und ihre Auslöser rund um die Theodizee-Frage aufgezeigt. So werden auch die Diskussionen insbesondere um das Leiden von Tieren, Kindern und unschuldigen Erwachsenen nachgezeichnet. Schließlich wird der Standpunkt von al-Ġazālī erläutert, der die Varianten von Theodizeen nur als pädagogische Zwecke erachtet, um der Mehrheit der Gläubigen, denen Gott durch anthropopathische Schilderungen zugänglich gemacht wurde, ein schlüssiges Welt- und Gottesbild zu bieten (Dieser Artikel ist eine Übersetzung aus dem Englischen).
