Zusammenfassung
Seit vielen Jahrzehnten stellt das Modell des Allgemeinen Walrasianischen Gleichgewichts (vgl. Beitrag 1 zur Mikroökonomik) den theoretischen Referenzpunkt der Wirtschaftsanalyse dar. Zum einen dient es als Nachweis der Möglichkeit eines paretoeffizienten Zustands, selbst wenn sich alle Beteiligten eigennützig verhalten: Marktprozesse, die weder zentral koordiniert werden noch durch selbstloses Verhalten der Individuen gekennzeichnet sind, können demnach zu optimalen gesamtwirtschaftlichen Gleichgewichten führen. Darüber hinaus können Verteilungsprobleme durch Änderungen der Ausgangsbedingungen (Anfangsausstattungen) gelöst werden.
