Zusammenfassung
In diesem Beitrag wird der Begriff „Luxus“ zunächst kurz geklärt. Interessant ist hierbei, dass er sowohl negative als auch positive Assoziationen hervorruft. Und das schon seit mindestens 2000 Jahren. Daran anschließend wird er aus einer Marketing- bzw. Kommunikationsperspektive beleuchtet. Wie werden die Eigenschaften des Begriffs Luxus mit den im Marketing existenziellen Konstrukten Produkt und Marke sowie Marketing verbunden? Diese Frage wird in diesem Beitrag behandelt. Vorab ist anzumerken, dass die Begriffe „Luxusgüter“ und „Luxusmarken“ in der Literatur und auch in der Praxis nicht einheitlich verwendet werden. Die Begriffe unterscheiden sich abhängig von dem Zeitabschnitt, dem sozialen sowie politisch-ökonomischen Umfeld und der moralisch-ethischen Einstellung des Betrachters.
