Zusammenfassung
Soziale Ungleichheit bezieht sich auf durch soziale Regeln erzeugte Ungleichheit hinsichtlich der Lebenschancen und Lebensrisiken der Gesellschaftsmitglieder. Lebenschancen und Lebensrisiken werden zwar auch durch natürliche Unterschiede zwischen den Individuen beeinflusst (z. B. genetische Dispositionen, Talente usw.), jedoch ist es Kennzeichen von Gesellschaften, dass der Mensch als vernunftbegabtes Wesen kollektive (soziale) Regeln (Normen, Gesetze usw.) aufstellt und durchsetzt, die natürliche Unterschiede überformen bzw. außer Kraft setzen (sollen) und dadurch eine gesellschaftliche Entwicklung und Fortschritt erst ermöglichen.
