Abstract
If there is one imperative that can qualify as a hegemonic principle guiding action in contemporary society, it is the call for innovation. If we look at current debates about change in society, we can see a preference for the new and a demand for innovation that is no longer confined to economic, scientific, and technological developments alone. Today, modern societies’ orientation toward growth, progress, and technological innovation has spread to a wide range of different areas.
