Zusammenfassung
Seit einigen Jahren wird die wissenschaftliche Beobachtung und Analyse sozialer Bewegungen neu formatiert und ausgerichtet. Das ist vor allem anderen dem Internet und Social-Media-Plattformen geschuldet, die zu einem integralen Bestandteil der Entstehung, Organisierung und Mobilisierung von Protest geworden sind. In diesem Aufsatz wird herausgearbeitet, welche Rolle diese neuen technischen Infrastrukturen für die Entfaltung und Stabilisierung von politischem Protest und sozialen Bewegungen spielen. Im Zentrum der Argumentation stehen zwei Themen: Zum einen eine präzisere Bestimmung der technischen Grundlagen kollektiven Verhaltens und Handelns, die das Internet nicht nur als ermöglichende, sondern zugleich als regelsetzende und handlungsstrukturierende Infrastruktur mit großer Eingriffstiefe ausweist. Zum anderen die Auslotung des neuartigen Verhältnisses technischer und sozialer Konstitutionsbedingungen von kollektivem Protest und sozialen Bewegungen in Zeiten digitaler Medien, das als technisch erweiterte Sozialität auf den Begriff gebracht wird.
