Zusammenfassung
Die Organisationssoziologie ist im Kern empiriegetrieben. Einschlägige Studien erforschen formale organisationale Strukturen, informelle Entscheidungs- und Machtstrukturen und soziale Prozesse in Organisationen sowie politische und gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen, die auf Organisationen und ihre Strukturen einwirken. Die empirische Forschung trägt maßgeblich zur Entwicklung organisationssoziologischer Theorien bei, weshalb in diesem Kapitel bedeutende empirische Studien der Organisationsforschung vorgestellt und ihr Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung des Faches diskutiert werden. Im Fokus stehen Frederick W. Taylor, Elton Mayo, Alvin E. Gouldner, Michel Crozier & Erhard Friedberg, Joan Woodward und Lynne Zucker, da sie die Theorieentwicklung in der Organisationssoziologie gefördert haben.
