Zusammenfassung
Dass der Politikwissenschaftler Peter Hall (geb. 1950) und der Ökonom David Soskice (geb. 1942) sich gefunden haben, war nicht nur für beide ein Glücksfall, sondern auch für den Erkenntnisgewinn der Sozialwissenschaften. Die gemeinsame Arbeit der beiden brachte zum ersten Mal auf den Punkt, wieso die USA, Kanada, Großbritannien, Irland, Neuseeland und Australien liberaler sind als Japan und die Länder Europas. Liberale Länder haben eine besonders marktwirtschaftliche Kapitalismusvariante, weil ihre Unternehmensbeziehungen auf maximale Flexibilität ausgelegt sind.
