Zusammenfassung
Der Beitrag widmet sich den diskursanalytisch ausgerichteten Studien der Cultural Studies, die ausgehend von den ideologiekritischen Arbeiten Althussers und Gramscis (und in kritischer Auseinandersetzung mit der Screen Theory) Kämpfe um soziokulturelle Deutungsmacht fokussieren, die sich in Werken ausdrücken und abspielen. Filme werden vor diesem Hintergrund weder als Widerspiegelung des Sozialen im Sinne eines Abbilds noch lediglich als Reproduktion des Sozialen durch Identifikationen mit bestehenden, mehr oder weniger stereotypen Subjektpositionen verstanden, sondern als diskursive Sinnstiftungsagenturen, die ganz unterschiedliche Positionierungen der Rezipient_innen ermöglichen. Diese Perspektive geht wesentlich auf das Encoding/Decoding-Modell von Hall zurück, das verschieden weiter entwickelt wurde und hier in seinen Facetten detailliert diskutiert wird. Insbesondere die Einsätze von Fiske, der verstärkt Polysemie und Widersprüchlichkeit hegemonialer Ordnungen und die Offenheit von Film- und Medientexten betont und von Denzin, der vor allem diskursive Engführungen durch filmische Repräsentationen und die (Infragestellung der) Reproduktion kultureller Ordnungen akzentuiert, werden als zentrale Beispiele für filmsoziologisch relevante Diskursanalysen angeführt.
