Abstract
Seit den 1990er Jahren werden vermehrt Methoden der Betriebswirtschaftslehre in Nonprofit-Organisationen angewendet. Diese Veränderung wird unter dem Begriff Managerialismus oder Verbetriebswirtschaftlichung im deutschsprachigem Raum diskutiert. Im Rahmen dieses Beitrags werden die Ergebnisse eines Forschungsprojektes zu diesem Phänomen aus österreichischer Perspektive beleuchtet. Die Studie hat gezeigt, dass fünf Aspekte des Managerialismus als primäre Veränderungen von Führungskräften in NPOs wahrgenommen werden. Diese umfassen eine zunehmende Wahrnehmung von Effizienz und Effektivität, eine verstärkte Marktorientierung, erhöhte Anforderungen an Legitimation und Transparenz, zunehmende Imagepflege und eine Professionalisierung des Personals. Diese Entwicklungen haben unterschiedliche Auswirkungen auf den Nonprofit-Sektor. Insgesamt kommt es zu einer Veränderung der gesellschaftlichen Funktionen von NPOs sowie zu einem Verschwimmen der Grenzen zwischen Markt, Staat und Nonprofit-Sektor (Hybridisierung).
