Zusammenfassung
Einer der am häufigsten, nämlich bis heute über 5000 Mal zitierten Aufsätze des Operations Research (OR) ist in einem der ersten Hefte des von Hans-Jürgen Zimmermann 1978 neu gegründeten und bis 1999 als einer von drei Hauptherausgebern geführten European Journal of Operational Research erschienen, nachdem er zuvor von der Zeitschrift Management Science abgelehnt worden sein soll. Dieser Aufsatz von Charnes et al. (1978) über „Measuring the efficiency of decision making units“ hat ein neues Forschungsgebiet des OR begründet, das unter dem Namen Data Envelopment Analysis (kurz: DEA) bekannt geworden ist und sich methodisch wesentlich auf die Lineare Programmierung stützt.
