Abstract
Die Idee einer europaweit koordinierten Mindestlohnpolitik verfolgt das Ziel, allen Beschäftigten ein angemessenes Mindestentgelt zu garantieren. Angesichts der sehr unterschiedlichen Lohnniveaus in Europa geht es dabei nicht um die Festlegung eines europaweit einheitlichen Mindestlohnbetrages, sondern vielmehr um die Verständigung auf eine europäische Mindestlohnnorm, die den Mindestlohn als bestimmten Prozentsatz nationaler Median- oder Durchschnittslöhne festschreibt. Vor dem Hintergrund der europäischen Wirtschaftskrise soll eine europäische Mindestlohnpolitik schließlich dazu beitragen, die Lohnentwicklung insgesamt zu stabilisieren.
