Zusammenfassu
Die Finanz- und Wirtschaftskrise seit 2007 hat eine breite gesellschaftliche und akademische Debatte über die Rolle des Finanzsektors im gegenwärtigen Kapitalismus angestoßen. Damit ist zugleich der Bedarf nach theoretischen Konzepten gewachsen, um diese Rolle analysieren und bewerten zu können. Der Begriff der Finanzialisierung erscheint in diesem Kontext besonders gut geeignet, um den Bedeutungs- und Funktionswandel des Finanzsektors während der letzten Jahrzehnte auch jenseits spezialisierter Fragen der Finanzmarktregulierung zu reflektieren. Mit Finanzialisierung bezeichnen wir – in Anlehnung an Epstein (2005, S. 1) – die Prozesse, durch die sich während der letzten drei Jahrzehnte ein Bedeutungszuwachs von Finanzmärkten, Finanzmotiven, Finanzinstitutionen und Finanzeliten in der Funktionsweise der Ökonomie, sowohl auf nationaler als auch auf internationaler Ebene vollzogen hat
