Zusammenfassung

Das Feld der Transitional Justice zeichnet sich sowohl durch Interdisziplinarität als auch durch die Vermischung von Forschung und Praxis aus. Dieses doppelte Spannungsverhältnis gibt einerseits fruchtbare Denkimpulse, birgt andererseits speziell für Historiker methodische und theoretische Herausforderungen. Anders als in der Rechts- und Politikwissenschaft und der Soziologie ist das Transitional Justice Konzept bei Historikern auf wenig oder gar keine kritische Resonanz gestoßen. Der folgende Beitrag analysiert den „historischen Beitrag“ im zweifachen Sinn, indem er fragt: Welche Mechanismen der historischen Aufarbeitung gibt es, wie funktionieren sie und welche Bedeutung haben sie in der Transitional Justice Forschung und Praxis? Was können insbesondere Historiker (oder historische Methoden) zum Feld der Transitional Justice beitragen beziehungsweise wo liegen grundsätzliche Konfliktpunkte? Schließlich werden kurz Alternativkonzepte wie Historical Justice, Geschichtsbewusstsein und Erinnerung skizziert.
