Zusammenfassung
Hergangsbeschreibungen von Motorradunfällen entsprechen häufig zwei Mustern. Zum einen werden Unfälle beschrieben, in denen ein Motorradfahrer bzw. eine Motorradfahrerin ohne Einfluss anderer Verkehrsteilnehmer in einer Kurve, bei der Auffahrt auf eine Autobahn oder während der Beschleunigung die Kontrolle über das Fahrzeug verliert. Zeugen geben in diesen Situationen häufig an, dass der Fahrer bzw. die Fahrerin mit sehr hohen Geschwindigkeiten unterwegs war. Andere Unfallbeschreibungen enthalten die Situation, dass ein Pkw-Fahrer bzw. eine -Fahrerin beim Spurwechsel oder beim Abbiegen ein ankommendes Motorrad übersieht und entweder der Motorradfahrer bzw. die -fahrerin beim Ausweichen stürzt oder eine Kollision nicht mehr vermieden werden konnte.

Der Begriff Motorrad bezeichnet nachfolgend alle Krafträder, die mit einer Fahrerlaubnis der Klassen A, A2 und A1 gefahren werden dürfen. Dies sind alle zweirädrigen Krafträder mit einem Hubraum über 50 ccm (Benzin) bzw. 4 kW (Diesel) und realisierbaren Geschwindigkeiten über 45 km/h.
