Zusammenfassung
Für die Theorie und Praxis der Verkehrssicherheitskommunikation gibt es gute Gründe, sich mit den Folgen des Gebrauchs von Computer- und Videospielen intensiv zu befassen. Zum einen wird jedem Betrachter, vor allem aber jedem Nutzer von bestimmten Computerspielen bereits nach wenigen Augenblicken deutlich, welche bemerkenswerten Parallelen zwischen beiden Tätigkeiten – dem ‚Gaming‘ und dem Autofahren – bestehen. ‚Autorennspiele‘ gelten als traditionsreiches und ausgesprochen beliebtes Genre, und sie scheinen die Anforderungen der realen Fahrzeugführung sehr authentisch zu simulieren. Zum anderen erfreuen sich Computerspiele seit mittlerweile gut 20 Jahren einer großen Beliebtheit bei einem Massenpublikum, in dem interessanterweise gerade die Zielgruppe besonders gut vertreten ist, die in der Verkehrssicherheitsarbeit als ‚Hauptsorgenkinder‘ gelten: junge Männer und (als künftige Fahrer) männliche Jugendliche. Mit Computerspielen hat das Thema ‚Autofahren‘ – und zwar durchaus das riskante, gefährliche Autofahren (vgl. unten: 13.2) – einen festen Platz in den Kinder- und Jugendzimmern erobert.
