Zusammenfassung
Revenue Management (bzw. Yield Management) findet seinen Ursprung in der Deregulierung der amerikanischen Luftfahrtindustrie und ist seit den 1970er Jahren ein fester Bestandteil zahlreicher Dienstleistungsunternehmen, in denen fixe Kapazitäten auf schwankende Nachfrage treffen. Bisherige Forschungs- und Praxisbeiträge aus dem Themenbereich des Revenue Managements beschäftigen sich überwiegend mit der Prognose der Nachfrage und der Optimierung der bereitgestellten Kapazität, weniger jedoch mit der kundenseitigen Wahrnehmung der eingesetzten Instrumente. Erste empirische Befunde zeigen, dass die unterschiedlichen Instrumente des Revenue Managements gerade unter Fairnessgesichtspunkten durchaus negativ auf den langfristigen Erfolg des Unternehmens wirken können. Dieser Beitrag nähert sich dem Revenue Management daher aus einer Kundenperspektive und gibt einen ersten Einblick in die unterschiedlichen Konfliktbereiche der Preis- und Kapazitätssteuerung. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf der Wirkungsanalyse von Upselling-Angeboten. Es zeigt sich, dass professionell betriebenes Upselling durchaus einen Mehrwert für das Unternehmen und den Kunden generieren kann, wenn der Anbieter ein tiefgreifendes Kundenverständnis entwickelt.
