Zusammenfassung

Die Entwicklung von flexiblen Endoskopen in der 2. Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts ermöglicht die optische Darstellung aller gastrointestinalen Hohlorgane und des Bronchialbaums. Die Endoskopie ist heute der Goldstandard in der Notfalldiagnostik bei der gastrointestinalen Blutung und hier gleichzeitig die primäre Therapieoption. Die biliäre Pankreatitis und die eitrige Cholangitis stellen Beispiele für Notfälle bei Erkrankungen der Gallenwege dar, die durch endoskopische Methoden zu behandeln sind. Die Untersuchung des oberen Gastrointestinaltrakts (GIT) mit der Ösophagogastroduodenoskopie (ÖGD) und des unteren Intestinaltrakts mit der Koloskopie wird durch Enteroskopieverfahren und die Kapselendoskopie für die Untersuchung des Dünndarms ergänzt. Die endoskopisch retrograde Cholangiopankreatographie (ERCP) und die perkutane transhepatische Cholangiodrainage (PTCD) ermöglichen therapeutische Eingriffe am biliopankreatischen System. Mit speziellen Endoskopen können zudem die Gallenwege und das Pankreasgangsystem direkt endoskopisch inspiziert werden.
