Zusammenfassung

Die periphere arterielle Verschlusskrankheit (pAVK) ist definiert als Behinderung der Durchblutung der Extremitäten durch Stenosierungen oder Verschlüsse der versorgenden Arterien oder der Aorta. Die untere Extremität ist häufiger von einer pAVK betroffen, man sollte jedoch immer auch an eine Beteiligung der oberen Extremität denken. In den meisten Fällen liegt der Erkrankung eine Atherosklerose der Extremitätenarterien zugrunde.
