Zusammenfassung
Migränemittel werden zur Anfallskupierung eingesetzt. Typisch für die Migräne ist der anfallsartig auftretende Halbseitenkopfschmerz, häufig verbunden mit Appetitlosigkeit (nahezu in allen Fällen), Übelkeit (in 80% der Fälle), Erbrechen (in 40 bis 50% der Fälle) und Lichtscheu (in 60% der Fälle), Lärmempfindlichkeit (in 50% der Fälle) und bei etwa 10% der Fälle Aversionen gegen bestimmte Gerüche. Die Ursache der Migräne ist genetisch bedingt, bei 60–70% der betroffenen Patienten lässt sich eine familiäre Belastung nachweisen. Bei 15% der Patienten leiten Aura-Symptome visueller und sensorischer Natur den Anfall ein. Frauen sind mit 12–14% häufiger betroffen als Männer mit 6–8%. Die Krankheitshäufigkeit ist zwischen dem 35. und dem 45. Lebensjahr am höchsten. In dieser Zeitspanne sind Frauen etwa dreimal häufiger betroffen als Männer (Evers et al. 2008).
