Zusammenfassung

Die diffus bilateral verteilten Hirnfunktionsstörungen der Enzephalopathien korrespondieren zu einem entsprechend breiten Spektrum von Symptomen und neurologischen Ausfällen. Entsprechend des funktionellen Schwerpunkts in den Großhirnhemisphären und ihren Verbindungen stehen akute oder chronische neuropsychiatrische Störungen im Vordergrund, Sie reichen von leichten Informationsverarbeitungsstörungen über das Delir bis zum Koma. Krampfanfälle, vielfältige motorische und vegetative Störungen können hinzukommen und werden hier in differenzialdiagnostisch orientierten Tabellen abgegrenzt. Selten, aber für einige Enzephalopathien pathognomonisch, sind fokale zerebrale Schwerpunkte mit korrespondierenden neurologischen Herdzeichen.
