Zusammenfassung
Als Stoffwechselendprodukte entstehen CO2 sowie Schwefelsäure, Phosphorsäure und organische Säuren mit ihren Säureprotonen. Da die Konstanz der intra- bzw. extrazellulären Wasserstoffionenkonzentration für die Aufrechterhaltung der vitalen Funktionen aller Organe des Organismus von ausschlaggebender Bedeutung ist, muss diese durch Pufferungssysteme und regulierte Ausscheidung von Protonen und Säuren durch die Nieren gewährleistet werden. Für die Ausscheidung des im Stoffwechsel anfallenden CO2 sind die Lungen verantwortlich, während die Protonenausscheidung über die Nieren erfolgt.
