Zusammenfassung

Anderthalb Jahrzehnte nach dem Millenniumsgipfel der Vereinten Nationen definiert die Zusammenführung von Entwicklungs- und Nachhaltigkeitsdebatte im Jahr 2015 Entwicklungspolitik neu. Zugleich gibt es berechtigte Zweifel an der Wirksamkeit von Entwicklungszusammenarbeit (EZ). Entscheidende Anstöße für Wachstum und Armutsreduktion gingen in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten vielmehr von nationalen Entwicklungsstrategien aus. Aktuell stehen emerging countries wie Brasilien, Indien und China für eigenständige Entwicklungsmodelle und sind attraktive Partner in der zunehmend relevanten Süd-Süd-Kooperation geworden.
