Zusammenfassung
Mit dem Konzept der Informationsgesellschaft wird eine neuartige Gesellschaftsformation bezeichnet, die sich gegenüber der Industriegesellschaft durch die zentrale Stellung von Wissen und Information sowie eine ausgeprägte Innovationsdynamik auszeichnen soll. In den Grundzügen wie im Zusammenhang gibt es weitgehende übereinstimmungen mit einer Reihe von Konzepten wie Wissens-, Netzwerk-, informationelle oder postindustrielle Gesellschaft, die daher auch oft synonym verwendet werden. Unterschiede in der Begriffswahl markieren in erster Linie spezifische Akzentsetzungen oder Perspektiven.
