Zusammenfassung
Besonders mit dem Aufkommen des Social Web, also z. B. sozialer Netzwerke, Blogs und Videoplattformen, haben sich im NGO-Bereich neue Kommunikationsformen herausgebildet. Der Beitrag konzentriert sich dabei auf die Tendenz hin zu „massenpersönlicher Kommunikation“ (O’Sullivan 2005). Damit lässt sich erfassen, dass im Netz vermeintlich private Kommunikationen im Zuge dynamisch schwarmförmiger Mobilisierung auch einen öffentlich-politischen Charakter erhalten können. Spezifische Formen wie Smart Mobs, Shit-Storms, die besser als Smart Storms zu bezeichnen wären, sowie Online-Unterschriftenaktionen und eigene Social Web-Communities werden bereits im deutschsprachigen Raum von NGOs eingesetzt. Massenpersönliche Kommunikation dient dabei vor allem im Bereich der Kampagnenführung dazu, jenseits festgefügter Mitgliederstrukturen, punktuell eine hohe Anzahl individuell Interessierter einzubinden. Abschließend zeigt der Beitrag auch die Grenzen massenpersönlicher Kommunikation auf. Diese scheint sich am ehesten für massentaugliche Themen zu eignen.
