Das 1952 erschienene philosophische Werk will in die Ethik einführen, die es als Metaethik versteht, d. h. als „logische Untersuchung der Moralsprache“. Es fragt, was moralische Urteile bedeuten, und betont deren vorschreibenden und prinzipiellen Charakter.
