Zusammenfassung
Der 1936 erschienene Roman schildert satirisch die Krise der modernen Gesellschaft und entwirft ein Panorama des intellektuellen Lebens unmittelbar vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, in dem eine anarchische Gesellschaft teils gelangweilt, teils intensiv amüsiert auf den Abgrund des Krieges zutreibt.
