Zusammenfassung
Schulbildung bis 1870 in Janina; anschließend osmanischer Beamter in Berat und Saranda; ca. 1881 Rückkehr nach Istanbul, wo er zusammen mit seinen Brüdern Abdyl Frashëri (1839–1892) und Sami Frashëri (1850–1904) zur Zentralfigur der albanischen Nationalbewegung Rilindja wurde; Mitwirkung im Zentralkomitee zur Verteidigung der Rechte des albanischen Volkes (1877) und in der Gesellschaft für die Veröffentlichung albanischen Schrifttums (1879); Verfasser von 22 Büchern, davon 15 auf albanisch; gilt vielen als Nationaldichter der Albaner.
