Zussamenfassung
In der deutschsprachigen und internationalen Medienwissenschaft spielt die Auseinandersetzung mit Pop und Popkulturen kaum eine Rolle. Dem Populären widmet sich die Medienwissenschaft, ebenso wie die Kommunikationswissenschaft, mit Blick auf populäre Kulturen und populäre Medienkulturen beziehungsweise Medientechnologie (u. a. Musik, Fotografie, Film, Fernsehen, Comic, Internet oder Computerspiele). Interdisziplinäre Forschungskooperationen zwischen der Medien- und Kommunikationswissenschaft finden allerdings kaum statt.
