Das Musikfernsehen ist ursprünglich mit dem Anspruch angetreten, Popmusik im Medium Musikvideo – also durch Kurzfilme, die ein Musikstück filmisch umsetzen – zu visualisieren und dem Fernsehen ein neues Mediengenre hinzuzufügen, das traditionelle TV-Sehgewohnheiten dekontextualisiert.
