Zussamenfassung
Im deutschen Sprachraum hat sich seit den späten 1960er Jahren der Begriff ›Autorenfilm‹ etabliert. Er steht für einen künstlerisch ambitionierten Spielfilm, der die deutlich erkennbare Handschrift seines Regisseurs trägt. Mit diesem Begriff trägt man der im gebildeten Mittelstand verinnerlichten Vorstellung Rechnung, dass sich der künstlerische Wert eines Kunstwerks vor allem am ›Genie‹ seines Schöpfers messen lasse – eine Auffassung, die aus bildender Kunst und Literatur auf den Spielfilm übertragen wurde.
