Zussamenfassung
Betrachtet man die Geschichte der Reformation im Alten Reich in der geographischen Zusammenschau, so spricht die schiere Vielzahl ähnlich erscheinender und zeitlich verdichteter Initiativen für deren Erklärbarkeit aus einem gemeinsamen Wirkungsprinzip heraus. Die hieraus abzuleitende Annahme einer weitgehenden Geschlossenheit der Reformation kann sich auf die Geisteshaltung im Grunde sämtlicher theologischer Persönlichkeiten der Reformation – und nicht allein Martin Luthers – berufen, die in ›Reformation‹ nichts anderes als eine Erneuerung oder treffender: eine Restitution der Kirche im Sinne eines für ideal gehaltenen Urzustands verstanden.
