Zusammenfassung
Der philosophische Gebrauch des Wortes ›Kategorie‹ geht auf Aristoteles zurück. Er hat jedoch eine derart wechselhafte Geschichte, dass Aristoteles’ eigene Begriffsbestimmung heute nicht einmal mehr unter Neoaristotelikern ohne Einschränkung maßgeblich ist. Es lassen sich in etwa drei Hauptbedeutungen unterscheiden.
