Abstract
Die Poetiken der Frühen Neuzeit in Europa weisen der Handlung eine zentrale Stellung zu. Der Rückgriff auf Aristoteles’ Poetik in Frankreich, Großbritannien und Deutschland im Zuge der neoklassischen Kritikbewegung steht hinter dieser Entwicklung, die, wie wir sehen werden, in einer Reihe erzähltheoretischer Konzepte dieser Epoche ihren Ausdruck finden. Betrachtet man die Handlung in der Frühen Neuzeit entlang der konzeptuellen Schlaglichter von vraisemblance, poetischer Gerechtigkeit und der Fabel, so zeigt sich schnell, dass die Diskussion in der Kritik Genregrenzen überschreitet.
