Abstract
Utilizing a panel dataset of the bilateral flow of exports from China and New Zealand and ten other countries for the period 2009–2016, the panel co-integration method was used under the gravity model to demonstrate the trade effect of the bilateral free trade area. Results showed that the establishment of a bilateral free trade area significantly promoted import and export trade between the two countries, and the establishment of the bilateral free trade area is more conducive to the enhancement of New Zealand’s export trade. It is suggested that trade advantages should be used to reduce trade barriers and further promote investment and development of the two countries.
