Abstract
The preface introduces the book by presenting its basic idea, tying the subject matter to the latest developments in the field, and outlining the most obvious gaps in research. It explains the added value that is achieved by looking at contemporary Russian politics through the lenses of governance theories. It argues that policy-based research on the interaction and cooperation between state and non-state actors as provided in this book serves as a suitable tool for opening up new perspectives of contemporary Russian politics, thus contributing to the refining of theories on both governance and regime hybridity or ‘new’ authoritarian rule. The preface ends with a short outline of the contents and the added value of each chapter.
