Abstract
In the present chapter the main issues of one of the most dynamic and perspective legal branches in the Russian Federation – Environmental Law – will be discussed. As an independent branch of law, Environmental Law appeared in the late 1980s of the twentieth century. Simultaneously with the development of the mentioned legal branch the Environmental Policy has began to be formed. At the present time, the process of formation and development of Environmental Law Policy is still under consideration.
In this chapter the main legal acts regarding environmental protection, environmental safety, and use of natural resources (land law, water law, forest law, etc.) will be disclosed. Author will examine the system of existing primary and secondary regulation in the environmental law and policy area.
A significant attention will be paid to the system of the Environmental Governance (ministries, agencies, departments, etc.).
The chapter will discuss in detail the system of the rights and duties of citizens, and public and other noncommercial associations in the field of environmental protection in the Russian Federation.
