Abstract
Both the Celtic and Germanic tribes—like many warrior tribes—held competitive games before religious festivals and prior to tribal assemblies. Some of the Celtic games like hurling, field hockey, and rugby, are still played. The Iroquois Confederation also held games—modern lacrosse being a variation of one of the Iroquois games.
