Abstract

Endometrial cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women in the United States. Endometrioid carcinoma is the most common endometrial cancer and is associated with excess estrogen. Endometrioid intraepithelial neoplasia (EIN) is a non-obligate precursor to endometrioid carcinoma. Other endometrial carcinomas include serous and clear cell carcinoma which are not associated with excess estrogen. A wide variety of other neoplasms occur in the uterus, including malignant mixed Müllerian tumors (MMMTs) and mesenchymal tumors such as smooth muscle tumors and endometrial stromal sarcoma. Other rare uterine tumors include entities such as perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa), lymphoma, and gestational trophoblastic disease.
