Abstract
During the Renaissance, the comedian was a means of understanding the world, a structural element in the expressive quest to describe and expose reality. Thus he took on precise literary traits – playful, farcical, bound to the sphere of the body – as well as profound theoretical connotations, as reflected in the poetry, theater, treatises, and novelistic genre of the time.
