Abstract
The article studies the impact of cashless payments on economic growth in Vietnam before and after the Covid 19 pandemic. The author collected data on payment accounts, total domestic cashless payments and by specific methods such as via bank card, payment order, check… And run a regression model with the real GDP on a quarterly basis for the period from 2018 to 2022. Results is the number of payment accounts, the total domestic cashless payment, via bank card, via cashless payment order all show a statistically significant positive impact on real GDP. Therefore, to create good motivation for economic growth, cashless payment needs to be expanded further, towards smart payment methods and applying high technology. The Covid epidemic was a strong boost for the development of cashless payments. Payment through cashless payment orders is increasingly taking over in cashless payments methods, while old methods such as checks, collection orders, etc. have almost disappeared, especially after the Covid-19 epidemic outbreak.
