Abstract

Throughout this book, transgender victimhood has been presented and contextualised to better understand the various levels of victimisation that transgender people face within criminal justice systems around the globe. From international social-legal and political perspectives, transgender people are delegitimised, dehumanised, and often face a criminalised existence. As such this book walked readers through each step of the criminal processing system from creation of laws based on social-legal discourses, policing of laws, criminal investigations involving transgender victims, transgender experiences in courtrooms, to experiences in prison.
