Abstract

Occupational safety and health (OSH) is a critical workplace factor dealing with the safety, welfare, and social well-being of workers. OSH training aims to provide a safe and healthy workplace, prevent the likelihood of accidents or injuries, as well as increase productivity. The rapid pace of technological development and the increasing use of immersive visual technologies provide an ability to enhance the performance of safety and health training programs. Virtual reality (VR) is gaining popularity in the area of safety and health training, and it has the potential to outperform traditional training programs in a variety of ways. However, it is also essential to take into account the human factors (HF) aspect while adopting virtual reality technology for the program of safety and health training. Hence, this paper attempts to briefly review the concept of OSH, VR, and provide a further contribution to the design and utilization of VR in OSH training with respect to the HF aspects.
