Abstract

The technological development and the globalization of information allow to obtain more productivity and efficiency in industrial systems, but at the same time, these systems are more susceptible to cyber-attacks. The digital transformation process has achieved to transform the water distribution networks (WDNs) from physical systems to cyber-physical systems, making them prime targets for cyber-attacks due to their condition as critical systems for life. Several methods for detecting cyber-attacks in WDNs have been presented in the scientific literature. However, very few papers address the problem of locating them. In this paper, the Dynamic Principal Component Analysis, Adaptive Exponential Weighted Moving Average Chart, and Structural Analysis computational tools are combined to obtain an effective system of detection and location of cyber-attacks. The proposed methodology was applied to the known benchmark BATADAL. The obtained results confirm the validity of the proposal.
