Abstract
One of the promising technologies to monitor the body of a patient and sending data acquired to the doctor is WBAN. WBAN consists of multiple miniature sensors attached to human body that constantly monitor the patient’s body and send the data to the doctors. This avoids not only errors that can occur during in-efficient monitoring by human staff, but also helps to utilize the human resources at some other field. One of the biggest challenges in designing an effective WBAN network is to construct a network which not only is power and energy efficient but also is less prone to packet loss or packet corruption during the transmission. This helps in long term monitoring of patients without effecting their daily life or prevent any serious damage due to late transmission of data. The focus of this paper is on designing an optimal transmission protocol using CSMA/CA multiple access protocol having an efficient energy usage, a high transmission rate and preventing the loss of data during wireless transmission due to interference from adjacent band gaps or due to the presence of outside networks.
