Zusammenfassung
Polymere Wärmetauscher haben ein enormes Anwendungspotenzial, wenn es um korrosive Medien geht. Der Nachteil ist die geringe Wärmeleitfähigkeit von polymeren Werkstoffen. Dies kann jedoch durch die Verwendung dünner Folien (Dicke kleiner 0,1 mm), die durch ein Abstandsgitter gestützt werden, kompensiert werden. Letzteres wirkt als Turbulenzgeber und stabilisiert fallende Filme und verhindert das Aufbrechen und die Bildung von Rinnsalen. Der Beitrag analysiert die mechanische und chemische Stabilität und die Einsatzgrenzen sowie die Ablagerungs- und Bewuchsneigung. Im Gegensatz zu Edelstahl haben die Polymere nach einer Vorbehandlung (Corona- oder Plasmabehandlung) gute Benetzungseigenschaften und eine selbstreinigende Eigenschaft aufgrund der Flexibilität der Polymerfilme. Mineralische Ablagerungen und Biofilme lassen sich durch Rütteln der Folie leicht entfernen und die starre Bewuchsschicht fällt auseinander. Hierzu werden Korrelationen für Wärmeübertragung und CaCO3 Niederschlagsbildung (Scaling) mit einem Abstandsgitter-gestützten Polymer-Dünnschicht-Wärmeübertrager angegeben, der eine ähnliche Struktur wie ein Plattenwärmeübertrager aufweist.
