Abstract

In 1854, the Lancet published “Follicular Tumor Involving the Nasal Bones, Nasal Process of Superior Maxillary Bone, and the Septum of the Nose; Removal; Death from Pneumonia; Autopsy” in London Hospital under the care of Mr. Ward. This publication is established as the first medical and academic publication of an inverted papilloma (IP). Dr. Ward reports, with great eye for detail, one single case. He describes medical history, clinical presentation, operative endeavor, and histology of a recurrent nonmalignant tumor of the nasal cavity and adds elucidate drawings [1].
