Abstract

Connected Vehicle (CV) is a fashionable topic to talk about. It is an emerging technology, designed to provide secure and reliable communications under the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). For this, many smart cities launched many CV pilot projects to test and evaluate the impact of this promising technology on different road traffic mobility, safety and environmental applications. However, the deployment of this technology introduces new challenges, which forced research community to talk about. Although several surveys about CVs have been written, a survey about their field implementation is required. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the main nine recent CVs projects deployed in different world cities. Then, to compare it by defining its characteristics, its specific technologies, its communication messages and its applications. Finally, the paper concludes by addressing the promising future insights to motivate more researches in this growing area of research.
