Electric and Hybrid Vehicles: Analysis of Factors Influencing Purchase Intentions of Consumers in Czechia

Abstract

Electromobility is a hot topic for discussions held both at the level of governments and in the commercial sphere. Economists and marketers are aware that one of the key factors influencing future consumer behavior is the “purchase intention”. This article focuses on the context and factors influencing market potential of electric vehicles in Czechia. Based on primary surveyed data and the research performed, we can say that the ownership of an electric vehicle itself is perceived positively by consumers, but only 17% of consumers see electric vehicles as the dominant source of future mobility. Consumers believe in hybrid engines, yet they do not support major tax breaks or other benefits associated with the ownership and operation of an electric engine car. The only aspect in which state support would be welcomed is the support of infrastructure for charging electric vehicles.
